WORCESTER- Richard Lowther Wright, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Sterling Village.

His beloved wife of 46 years, Carol E. (Rochette) Wright passed away in March of 2019

He was born in Framingham on December 1, 1933, son to the late George E. and Pearl M. (Lowther) Wright. He was raised in Hopkinton and graduated from Hopkinton High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force to proudly serve his country during the Korean War.

Following his discharge from the military, he began working briefly as a gatekeeper for the Boston / Albany Railroad before learning to drive tractor trailers. Richard was employed by Roadway Express Company, PIE Express, Reed Plastic Company of Holden and later at HR Prescott & Sons in West Boylston until his retirement. He was very proud of the fact that he had logged over six million miles accident-free traveling cross country. Richard was a lover of dogs, Dunkin Donuts and the "Jeepsters", a military vehicle club that would meet on Monday nights.

He leaves behind a daughter, Rebecca J. Easter of Florida; a cousin, Alvin Fletcher of Milford; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; his close friend, Lisa Nichols of Worcester; extended family and friends.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Margaret A. Alvarez; two grandsons, Joshua Briggs and Christopher Parker; two brothers, Allen and George Wright

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Richard's life on Wednesday, December 1st at Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street with visiting hours from 9:00-11:00 am immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Burial alongside his wife will follow at Hope Cemetery.
